MADHUSUDAN INDUSTRIES LIMITED (MIL) is a 69 year old listed company, with an unblemished record of good corporate governance, strict adherence to all laws of the land, and an excellent image amongst its peers within the industry. MIL’s fair trade practices have given it a status within the industry. The Company had three units, namely Edible Oil Unit having plants at Rakhial Station, Taluka Dehgam, Dist.Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Solvent Extraction Plant at Nimbahera, Dist.Chittorgarh, Rajasthan and Power Unit consisted 10 Nos. Wind Turbine Generators of 2.5 MW at Patelka, Dist. Jamnagar in Gujarat for captive consumption of power at its Edible Oil Unit at Rakhial. MIL had assiduously built up the equity of its brand namely MADHURAM, which commanded a premium in almost all the markets. MIL had a strong presence in the western markets of the country and its sales & distribution network was excellent in these areas. Most of the dealers had been with the company for over a decade, or even more. During the year 1981, the Management decided to diversify its activities and set up a Ceramic Sanitaryware unit at Kadi, Dist.Mehsana, Gujarat a centrally backward area. The unit was named Madhusudan Ceramics a division of Madhusudan Industries Ltd. The products of the Company are marketed under the brand name of CERA. In the year 2001, the Ceramic Division of the Company has been demerged to a separate group company and named as Madhusudan Oils and Fats Ltd, pursuant to the Order of Hon’ble Gujarat High Court. Later the name of the Company has been changed and it is now known as Cera Sanitaryware Ltd. The Company scrapped and disposed off its Plant and Machineries at Rakhial and declared closure of the Unit in October, 2006. The Company could smoothly exit from the manufacturing of edible oil products and diversified into Horticulture under the patronage of National Horticulture Board. The production of flowers was commenced from December, 2008 The efforts of the Company has earned tremendous goodwill in the region and the Company won several awards at the Horticulture Seminar-cum-Exhibition hosted by the Gujarat Horticulture department in February, 2009. Students and faculty of Anand Agriculture University had recorded that the green houses at our premises were the most modern they had visited till date. Presently, the Company is engaged in horticultural activities and also rented the godowns and premises. |
